What changed in SimplePractice insurance pricing on October 1, 2026?

Claim fees no longer depend on your plan. Every plan now starts at the same $0.39 per submitted claim, and your monthly subscription price stays the same.

Starting per-claim rate by plan, from SimplePractice's own comparison (read October 23, 2026)
PlanStarting rate before October 1Starting rate from October 1
Starter$0.50$0.39
Essential$0.35$0.39
Plus$0.25$0.39
  • Starter, Essential and Plus subscription prices did not change. [1]
  • The free monthly claims that came with the Essential and Plus plans ended on October 1. Each submitted claim is now billed at the per-claim rate. [1]
  • Volume pricing still applies, so the rate per claim goes down as your monthly claim count goes up. [1][3]
  • You do not need to do anything to keep your current insurance features. They continue as Insurance Essentials, the default. [1][2]

How much does SimplePractice charge per claim?

With Insurance Essentials, $0.39 for each of your first 250 claims in a month, then less per claim in three steps down to $0.33. Insurance Navigator follows the same steps from $1.79 down to $1.49.

Per-claim rates by monthly volume, as published by SimplePractice (in effect from October 1, 2026)
Claims submitted each monthInsurance EssentialsInsurance Navigator
First 250$0.39$1.79
251 to 600$0.37$1.69
601 to 1,000$0.35$1.59
Each claim after 1,000$0.33$1.49
  • The steps are graduated: the lower rate applies only to the claims above each threshold. SimplePractice's own example is 300 claims on Insurance Essentials, which comes to $97.50 for the first 250 and $18.50 for the next 50, or $116.00. [3]
  • Claim fees are billed on top of the monthly subscription, which starts at $49 for Starter, $79 for Essential and $99 for Plus. [3]

What will SimplePractice claims cost at your volume?

Count the insurance claims you send each month and apply the tiers. At 100 claims a month, claim fees come to $39.00 on Insurance Essentials.

100$39.00$179.00
250$97.50$447.50
400$153.00$701.00
800$297.00$1,357.00

These totals are our arithmetic on SimplePractice's published rates. Your receipt in SimplePractice shows the rate applied to each claim. [3]

Which claims and insurance checks carry a fee?

Only claims you submit electronically through SimplePractice, and manual insurance status checks on the Starter and Essential plans. Enrollments and electronic payment reports are free.

  • A claim is charged only when it is submitted electronically through SimplePractice. Claims you create and download, send on paper or submit through another system carry no SimplePractice fee. [1][2]
  • If Medtransic bills for your practice, we submit your claims through your own SimplePractice account, so these per-claim fees appear on your SimplePractice bill as usual.
  • Submitting payer enrollments and receiving Payment Reports (ERAs) costs nothing extra. [2]
  • Manual insurance status checks cost $0.15 per successful check on the Starter and Essential plans from October 1, 2026. They stay free on Plus through March 31, 2027, and are $0.15 on every plan after that. [2]
  • Claims you submit during the 30-day free trial carry no charge. [3]
  • To see what you were charged for, open Settings, Practice, Plan info for receipts, and the Filed claims report under Analytics, Reports for the claims behind them. [3]

Insurance Essentials or Insurance Navigator: what is the difference?

Insurance Essentials is the default and includes the core claim tools. Insurance Navigator adds automatic benefit verification, an AI claim assistant, EOB payment autofill and phone access to SimplePractice's Insurance Specialists, at a higher per-claim rate.

  • SimplePractice also lists assisted credentialing as coming later in 2026, for an additional fee. [1]
